How to Track Cases in the Andhra Pradesh High Court
The High Court of Andhra Pradesh was constituted on 1 January 2019, when the combined High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad was split: Andhra Pradesh got a new court at Amaravati, Telangana kept the Hyderabad registry. That shapes tracking here — a pre-2019 matter may sit on one portal, the other, or both.
Four places matter for tracking, and they do not overlap neatly: the court's own case status portal, the eCourts High Court Services pages, the national eCourts CNR search, and the court's Neutral Citation Search Module. This guide walks through which to use when, the case-type codes that trip people up, how orders and certified copies actually work, and the quirks that come out of the 2019 split.

The court's own portal, linked from the home page as "APHC Case Status" and headed "Andhra Pradesh Case Status". Thirteen captcha-gated search routes: registration number, filing number, advocate, party name, lower court, e-filed case, IA status, four CD status routes, and two filing reports, advocate-wise and date-wise by Branch (Writ, Civil, Criminal, OS). There is no CNR box, though the results display the CNR.
eCourts High Court Services (linked as NJDG)

The court links to the eCourts High Court Services pages here under the label "NJDG". Every link carries state_cd=2&dist_cd=1&court_code=1 — code 2 is this court, bench 1, "Principal Bench Andhra Pradesh"; Telangana is a separate court, code 29. The case-number page is headed "Case Status : Search by Case Number", takes at most 7 digits and a four-digit year, and carries Old Case Number / New Case Number radios, with "New" pre-selected.

Asks for "the 16 digit alphanumeric CNR Number without any hyphen or space". Andhra Pradesh High Court CNRs begin APHC01.

If you have the CNR, use it
It is the one identifier that never changes. Paste the 16 characters into the eCourts CNR search. A live example: APHC010606372024 returns C Nagabhushanam vs The State of Andhra Pradesh, WP 1/2025, disposed 3 January 2025 before Justice Gannamaneni Ramakrishna Prasad.

If you have the registration number
Use "Case Status by Registration Number" on the court's own portal — case type, case number, year, captcha. Take the case type from the registry's vocabulary, not from your brief.

If registration has not happened, search by filing number
The two are different numbers and often different years: filing number 47667/2024, registration number 1/2025.

If the case is pre-2019, run the search twice
Once against Andhra Pradesh, once against Telangana — matching on party names rather than the number. On the eCourts case-number page, switch the radio to Old Case Number: the default is "New", so an old-format number left there returns nothing.

Read the interlocutory applications and registry objections
They sit on the record. WP 1/2025 shows one IA (a Direction Petition) and a scrutiny entry of 2 January 2025, where an unanswered objection surfaces.
Case types you will get wrong
The list runs to 80 case types, several of them near-twins. Codes are not contiguous, so a missing number is not your error.

Two local points. The (AT) types — WP(AT) and CC(AT) — are matters transferred from the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal, never filed under plain WP or CC. And the Neutral Citation module's case-type list differs from the eCourts one — it includes CRLMP, which the eCourts vocabulary here does not — so a type can resolve in one place and not the other.
Downloading orders and judgments
Free copies and certified copies are two different systems.
To view or download, use the "Orders / Judgements (NJDG)" links on aphc.gov.in/case_status.php, which open eCourts pages searching by case number, filing number ("Filling" in the site's own spelling), judge name, party name or order date. Orders also appear on the case record, labelled "Digi-Final Order". The court's translated-judgments repository, "eAPHCR" in the site nav and headed "High Court of Andhra Pradesh Translated Judgments", sits at digi-services.aphc.ap.gov.in/eaphcr/ — searchable by case number and year, name, SCI citation number or date.
To obtain a certified copy, use "Online CD App", headed "Online CD V5 | Track CD Status". Registration is mandatory — advocate name, Bar Council registration number, photo, email, mobile — with first login by mobile OTP. Two limits decide whether the route is open to you: online filing is confined to parties and their advocates, and in the court's words, "except Interim and Final Orders of the High Court, no other Certified Document will be granted through online". Rs.25 is not the total. It is the flat charge "for each Copy Application towards application charges and document charges irrespective of number of pages and orders in a case"; copying charges for judgments, final orders and interim orders are fixed separately by the Chief Justice and notified on the court's website, and fees are not refunded if the application is rejected. The document reaches your registered email and must be downloaded within 30 days of the SMS intimation. The portal's four "CD status" routes then track it by CD number, registration number, filing number or advocate code.
For reported decisions, the Neutral Citation Search Module searches by party name, date-of-judgment range, coram (a multi-select judge list), case type with number and year, CNR, and a citation year paired with an "APHC No" field, filtered on All Judgments / Reportable / Non Reportable. Its CNR field resolves only cases with an indexed judgment; a pending matter returns nothing. Copy any citation string exactly as stamped.
Cause lists
The cause list module is at aphc.gov.in/Hcdbs/search.jsp, headed "Cause List Details": Daily, Weekly, Entire, Supplementary, Date Wise and Advanced lists, an eCourts cause list, Archives, Live Status of Cause List, VC Meeting Links, Advocate Search and Supreme Court Order.
Pick a list type and, for the daily list, you land on a page headed "DAILY CAUSE LIST", with one "Cause List Date :" dropdown and five views — Court Wise, Judge Wise, Advocate Code Wise, Advocate Wise and Case Wise. Advocate Code Wise is keyed to your advocate code rather than a court or judge. Rows link through to case status.
These pages carry no published-time field, so the dropdown dates are the only indicator of what has been released.
Quirks specific to the Andhra Pradesh High Court
Pre-2019 records are twinned across two portals
WP 100/1995 exists as APHC010199101995 on Andhra Pradesh and HBHC010199101995 on Telangana, with the same parties, the same Full Bench (Justices P.L.N. Sarma, S. Parvatha Rao and Syed Shah Mohammed Quadri) and the same disposal, "DISPOSED OF NO COSTS" on 21 April 1995 — though the two records are not textually identical, down to the order of the judges' names. The prefix that differs is a court prefix, not a state one: HBHC01 is the erstwhile Hyderabad High Court's code, so swapping in a state code will not build the Telangana CNR. WP 1/2016 twins the same way: APHC010425932016, filing number 237492/2015.
The twinning is not symmetric
WP 100/2016 exists on Telangana but not on Andhra Pradesh. WP 1/2018 exists only on Andhra Pradesh, on a fresh low serial APHC010000012018, filing number 1/2018, withdrawn on 1 July 2024 before Justice Ravi Nath Tilhari. The rule: for anything pre-2019, search both code 2 and code 29.
The CNR year is the filing year
WP 1/2025 carries CNR APHC010606372024 because it was filed on 31 December 2024 and registered on 2 January 2025. A CNR that looks a year off is usually correct.
Judgment headers name the bench
Division Bench judgments carry the judges' initials in the running header — RRR,J & TCDS,J on a 2025 writ judgment — the quickest way to identify the bench from any page of a PDF.
